Kenneth Daniel Bryan

Kenneth Daniel Bryan, 85, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on January 1, 2026, surrounded by family.
Ken was born October 6, 1940, in Brady, Texas, and grew up in Galveston. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force. He attended the Army Language School in California, where he learned Russian, and later served overseas with tours in Germany and Turkey, working in military communications.
After his military service, Ken married Juanda Alexander in 1962. They raised 3 children together and remained married until her death in 2004. He later married Carolyn Halbert in 2005.
After earning his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Lamar State College of Technology in May of 1966, he began his civilian career at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio and later worked with the Joint Electronic Warfare Center, retiring from the Department of Defense as a Plank Owner and Chief Executive Electrical Engineer of the Joint Command and Control Warfare Center in 1997. His career reflected a lifelong commitment to service, excellence, and integrity.
Ken was a man of strong faith who believed in the power of prayer, forgiveness, and generosity. He was multilingual and fluent in German, Russian, and Spanish. He could also read and write Greek and Hebrew and was well-versed in Chinese hieroglyphs and Japanese Kanji. He was known for his exceptional intelligence and his wisdom, and he loved thoughtful conversation and solving problems. He was also known for his kindness, gentle spirit, and sense of humor.
He was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
Ken is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Halbert) Bryan; his brother David and his wife Rita; his children: Tanya (Bryan) Sites and husband Andy; Kevin Bryan, and Jonathan Bryan and his wife Kim; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmet and Kathleen Bryan, his sister Kay, and his wife, Juanda (Alexander) Bryan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to an Alzheimer's support or research organization.
A memorial service will take place at Oak Hills Church, 19595 I-10, San Antonio, TX, in the Blue Bonnet Room at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 30.
