Kenneth Marion Campbell Jr., affectionately known as Marty, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, in Easley, SC, at the age of 65. Born on November 17, 1959, in Greenville, SC, Marty was a beacon of love and faith in the lives of all who knew him. His warm presence and passionate spirit will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
Marty was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Melinda Kay Campbell, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Marion Campbell Sr., his mother, Shirley Ann Durham Campbell, his brother, Kurtis Michael Campbell, and his beloved son, Sean Campbell. Marty's memory will be forever held in the hearts of his sister, Shirley Lynn Drummond and her husband Dean, his brothers, Keith Martin Campbell and his wife Jennifer, Kelly Mitchell Campbell and his wife Robin, his stepsons, Josh Whitmire and his wife Elizabeth, Nickolas Whitmire and his wife Brianna, and his adored grandchildren, Kallie, Chloe, Cash, and Cami. His numerous nieces and nephews also survive him, each carrying a piece of his enduring legacy.
Marty was a proud graduate of Parker High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and laid the foundations for his future. He dedicated over 40 years of service to Michelin, where he was not only a respected colleague but also a friend to many. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his dedication to his faith; Marty was an ordained minister who found great joy in preaching and leading the men's group at his church.
Music was one of Marty's greatest joys. He loved to sing and play the guitar, often sharing his talents with his church community and during gatherings with family and friends. His love for good food was well-known, and he relished the times spent around the table with loved ones, sharing stories and creating memories.
An avid outdoorsman, Marty found peace and contentment in nature. Whether he was casting a line on a quiet morning or cheering on his favorite football team, he embraced every moment with enthusiasm and a zest for life.
Marty's life was a testament to the values he held dear: love, faith, and passion. He approached every day with a heart full of grace and a spirit that inspired others to live their lives to the fullest. His unwavering faith guided him through life's challenges and shone as an example to all.
As we bid farewell to Marty, we take solace in knowing that his legacy will continue to live on through the lives he touched. His infectious laugh, his wise counsel, and his unconditional love have left an indelible mark on the world. Marty's journey on earth may have ended, but his story will be told for generations to come, a story of a man who lived a life full of love and faith. Rest in peace, dear Marty, until we meet again.
Marty’s life will be honored at New Life Baptist Church in Greenville, SC on Sunday, July 27th. Visitation from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM.
