Kenneth "Bud" Eugene Chambers, 93, Burlington, died on July 24, 2021, at the Coffey County Hospital.
He was born on January 24, 1928, in Yates Center, to Les and Thelma Ferree Chambers.
Bud graduated from Yates Center High School. He served in the United States Army. Bud had worked as a farmer and stockman. He had driven a school bus for the Yates Center Schools. He sang in a Gospel Quartet and played the Fiddle and Keyboard for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Burlington and the Coffey County Cancer Support Group.
Bud was married to Nora Knowles in 1947 and they were later divorced. He then married Roberta Laver in 1951 and they were later divorced. On November 18, 2000, he married Alice Sleezer at the Methodist Church in Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dennis on August 28, 1964, at the age of 8, his sisters, Wilma Jean Jeffers and Doris Frederick, an infant brother, Billie, and his brothers, Marvin and Leonard Chambers.
Bud is survived by his wife Alice of the home, his sons, Wayne (Susan) of Latham, KS, Roger (Kathy) of Kansas City, Lonnie and David of Yates Center, and Gary of Cassoday, KS, his daughter, Sheryl Gauss of Fort Scott, KS, his step sons, Lloyde (Brenda) and Russell (Carla) Sleezer, of Burlington, and a step daughter, Gail (Steve) McGirt, of Burlington, 19 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, his sister Dianna Wood of Stephenville, TX, many great and step great grandchildren, his sister in laws, Rosemarie and Shirley Chambers, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the Jones Funeral Home, Burlington. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Yates Center Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Coffey County Cancer Support Group and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
