Kenneth Byrd Clark, 86, of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025. Kenneth was born September 9, 1938 in Macon County, NC to the late James "Jim" Clark and Rettie Hoilman Clark.
He retired from NC Department of Transportation where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Kenneth was a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church. He liked coon hunting, gardening, wood working, digging ginseng, trapping and spending time with his family. He loved traveling on short trips, Cades Cove, the Parkway, local places and beach trips. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Betty Lou Estes Clark, who died March 22, 2025; an infant daughter, Connie Lee Clark and three siblings, Joe Clark, Eva Nell Houston and Dick Clark.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Bateman; grandchildren, Jessica Keyworth (Matthew), Andrea Staebell (Justin) and Phillip Bateman (Danielle); three great-grandchildren, Kenna Keyworth, Ada Staebell and Micah Staebell.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Snow Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Julia Gibson and Rev. Steve Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Riverview Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Bateman, Matthew Keyworth, Justin Staebell, Darryl Bateman, Jeff Clark and Wayne Lynch.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Matthew Keyworth for taking excellent care of Mr. Clark in his final days.
