Detective Sergeant Kenneth R. Jameson of Walpole, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 25 2024. Known to all as "Kenny", he is survived by his beloved wife, Denise (Patrician) Jameson, and his sister- in-law, Danette (Patrician) Carroll.
Kenny was a dedicated father to Nicole (Jameson) Fornaro, and her husband, Joseph, Kenneth Jameson, and his wife, Michelle, Judy Jameson and her fiancé, Matthew, Jacob, Sean, Krista, and Tommy. He was "Grampa" to his cherished grandchildren, Karynne, Colin, Joey, Emma, Zachary, Cayden and Levi.
Kenny grew up in Roslindale and rose from a difficult childhood to a lifetime of public service. He served in the US Navy as a submariner in the Viet Nam era, and enjoyed a successful career in law enforcement with the Boston Police. His early career included foot patrol and motorcycle patrol across multiple Boston Districts. As Detective, he went on to serve under Mayors Ed Flynn and Tom Menino on a Special Operations team that was highly instrumental in dismantling the notorious Boston Combat Zone. Due to mandatory retirement regulations, he reluctantly retired as Detective Sergeant in 2012 from District E-5 West Roxbury. Kenny embraced his role at E-5 as Community Service Liaison, and was known for the solid relationships he developed across the community. He thoroughly enjoyed his co-workers and staff in this role. Examples of their outreach included opening up the precinct to the Boy Scouts, and organizing a popular annual Halloween Party open to all children where an actual Judge would "judge" the best costumes. They also hosted an annual adoption fair to bring foster children and prospective adoptive parents together. This was near and dear to his heart as he and his wife were foster parents for 30 years and adoptive parents themselves.
Our family has a standing joke that wherever we go, we meet someone who knows Kenny. On and off duty, he was a true first responder. For example, while on vacation, he administered aid to a pregnant woman hemorrhaging in her car, and on two separate occasions, pulled incapacitated victims of fiery car crashes to safety before the cars exploded. He was especially pleased to help a family friend find her biological mother. So many over the years called Kenny for help and he was always eager to advise and lend a helping hand. Our family saw him take calls for assistance even while he was receiving hospice care, and he still gave advice without divulging his own dire situation. He never stopped caring about the needs of others.
Our family extends sincere love and gratitude to Kenny's childhood and lifelong friend, Frank Malfa, whose unending faithfulness and support to Kenny and all of us, will always be remembered. Frank is family to us.
Our family cannot say enough about the outstanding care that Kenny received from the entire medical team at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital Hospice Unit in Bedford, MA. These dedicated people treated him and our family with extraordinary honor, dignity and compassion. We extend our deepest heartfelt gratitude to each of them.
Kenny will be sorely missed by his family, and extended family and friends. We will keep his memory and legacy alive in our hearts. We take comfort in knowing that Detective Sergeant Jameson is safely home with His Lord and Savior, Jesus.
A private service with military honors will take place at a future date to be announced.
