Kenneth J. Kennedy, of Hemlock, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024 at Bickford Senior Living Facility in Midland. Born in Kingston, Tennessee on October 21, 1932, Ken was the son of the late Robert L. and Annie M. (Sullivan) Kennedy. Being orphaned at a young age, Ken made his way to Michigan with the help of his sister, Ruth. He graduated from Coleman High School, then proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He married Sarah A. Parson on October 6, 1973. She predeceased him on November 13, 2011.
Ken was employed as a pipe fitter at Dow Chemical Company for over 35 years. Retiring in 1987, Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and tinkering in his garage on his wood projects. Ken was a remarkable woodworker making anything from trays and stools to dressers and stands.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ken is preceded in death by his brothers, Raymon and Carroll Kennedy, sisters, Beatrice Burton, Ruth Smith, and Barbara Jean Sayers. He is survived by his son Victor L. Kennedy, daughter Karen Siver, step-sons Robert (Maureen) Parson, Jr., Timothy Parson, and Paul (Linda) Parson. Ken had 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Per Ken's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Ken's family wishes to thank Bickford Senior Living and Cardinal Transitions Hospice for their kindness and compassion they provided for him.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the charity of their choice.
All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored the Kennedy family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.
