Obituary of Kenneth Ray Kirby
A faithful servant of God and a loving family man
We write this tribute to honor the life of Kenneth Ray Kirby, who departed from this world on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the age of 85, and entered into the glorious presence of his Lord and Savior. He was the beloved husband of Marlene Hall Kirby and the devoted father of Tama (David) Kirby Retherford and Sherry (John) Kirby Rowland. He was also the respected and loved stepfather of Jamie (late William) Holdren, Rob (Kate) Harper and Richard (Katy) Harper. He was the proud grandfather of Zachary (Carrie), Cody, Kirby, Heather (Noah), Nick (Melody), Rob, James (Behroze), Samuel, Daniel, Rachel, Leo and Dallas. He was the cherished great-grandfather of Blake, Alexis and Luke.
Ken was born on August 26, 1938, in London, Kentucky, to the late Clyde and Veronica Kirby. He was the brother of Eva Pearl Slusher and the late John Kirby, Wilma Wyrick and Jackie Herron. Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing in tranquil waters. He retired from Proctor and Gamble after a long and successful career. In his "retirement" he continued to work for Hacker Paving for twenty years. His strong faith in God shone through his daily walk. He worshiped and served with his spiritual family at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Blue Ash, where he was a faithful member and a friend to many.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am, both at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 8645 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, OH 45242, with Rev. George Staggs officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Rest Haven Cemetery in Evendale, OH. Online condolences may be expressed at www.strawserfuneralhome.com
We celebrate the life and legacy of Kenneth Ray Kirby, who is now rejoicing in heaven with his Savior. We thank God for the gift of his love, his wisdom, and his example. We look forward to seeing him again in the resurrection.
