Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dahl Funeral Home - East Grand Forks on Jul. 17, 2025.
Kenneth P. Lindgren, age 89 of
East Grand Forks, MN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND with his youngest daughter Melissa by his side. He had been battling cancer for ten years.
Kenny was born on April 16, 1936 to Walter and Myrtle (Johnson) Lindgren. He was the second of seven boys. He graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in
East Grand Forks, MN. He married the love of his life, Patricia Holweger, on November 4, 1961 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
East Grand Forks, MN. She was his "Right Arm". And he was her "Rock". Together they made a home in East Grand Forks and raised 4 daughters. At a young age, Kenny began working next to his father on the family farm. Early in his career he worked as a welder at Sims Machine Shop in Grand Forks, ND. Next, he drove semi for Indianhead Truck Line in Grand Forks, ND. After his retirement, he worked for 10 years at McDonald's Restaurant as a maintenance worker for his youngest daughter, Melissa. He also helped the Stocker family bring in the harvest for several years and he volunteered at the East Grand Forks Food Shelf. He was a hard worker with a kind and giving heart. He was happiest when he was helping others. He was the one to call if someone needed a ride to an appointment or something repaired. He loved his church and food shelf family as much as his own family. He happily donated his time, talents and money to both. Kenny and Patricia were awarded the Lumin Christi Award on October 15, 2022 for their outstanding service to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Kenny is survived by 4 daughters, Cynthia Koth, West Fargo, ND, Maria Hill, Grand Forks, ND, Rebecca (Kevin) Johnk, Moorhead, MN, and Melissa (Justin) Bartak, Stillwater, MN; 3 grandsons, Jordan (Jessica) Bartak, Bemidji, MN, Derek (Sierra) Johnk, Hawley, MN, and Dylan Johnk, Moorhead, MN; great-grandchildren, Remi Sheyenne Johnk, Noah Scott Bartak, Collins Ann Johnk, and Emma Patricia Bartak; brothers, Harley Lindgren of Keosauqua, IA, Ervin (Dianne) Lindgren of
