Kenneth Mason Obituary

He attended schools in Pownal and graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington. Kenneth was the owner and operator of the Grandview Farm Lawn and Landscape Company in Pownal for 35 years.
He enjoyed attending fairs, tractor pulls and maple sugaring that he delighted in since his childhood. Kenneth especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, family and friends.
Survivors include his mother Shirley Mason of Bennington, wife Suzanne (LePage) St. Hilaire-Mason whom he married on September 9, 1999, daughter Aimee St. Hilaire and grandsons, Zachary Sherman, Jackson Sherman and Brayden Messenger. Kenneth also leaves Aunt Lorraine Gates, Uncles Michael Lillie and several cousins including Matthew Somerville who he was very close to.
At his request there will be no funeral services, burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations are suggested for the Pownal Rescue Squad through the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, Ma. I met Kenny when Burton sent me over to the Grand View farm to help with haying, probably 1986 & it was a much different experience then throwing hay @ Peckhams - Danny was halrious, & the grandfather was still lurking about too, promoting a surreal sense of place & living history; That he wasn't exactly a celebrated patrician, but more of a tolerated nuciance, delights me to this day. Kenny's mom told stories about how the giant house had been host to visiting artist's back when Pownal enjoyed a status as "artist's colony" & excentrics abounded; So when air B&B began it struck me as a very old idea finding expression in the new internet reality. By 87' Larry Salvis had come to Pownal & Kenny was quite friendly with him - he asked me quite recently if I'd ever heard anythin from him subsequent to their departure from Pownal 3 or 4 years later, I'd worked with him some too & he did stop by to say goodbye, but we never heard another report about his fate, FB has an inactive profile with that name? I hope he's got all the anwsers now, I had so many questions for him that I was getting around to asking, believing he'd be around long after me..
