McKeny, Kenneth T. – of Flint, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at his home. Honoring his wishes, cremation will be taking place. A Celebration of Ken's Life will be held at 1PM, Friday, January 17, 2025, at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 1PM. A livestream will be available for those unable to attend in person. Contributions may be made to the family for a memorial fund to be established in his honor.
Ken was born January 6, 1964, in Flint, Michigan, to the late William and Lois (Taylor) McKeny. He graduated from Holly High School with the class of 1982. Ken started his career with the Holly Volunteer Ambulance in the 80s, and later worked at Inter City Auto Parts in Flint for many years. But it was at O'Guinn Family Funeral Homes where his impeccable work ethic set him apart, and Ken truly found his dream job; becoming a beloved member of the team. Ken's passion for hearses was legendary. He was a proud member of Just Hearse'N Around Car Club in Hell, Michigan, and could always be found at HearseFest, his favorite annual event. He enjoyed driving through bad weather to lend a hand to those in need, and was always ready to fix minor inconveniences and leave things better than he found them. A collector at heart, Ken amassed an eclectic assortment of unique & weird things over the years-from toy cars to full-size vehicles, sometimes quirky items, and even interesting people. He loved exploring historical sites, particularly cemeteries. Halloween was his time to shine, notably when it came to haunted houses and hearse shows. Ken's fondness for demolition derby, especially figure 8 racing, was only rivaled by his love for good food, loud music, and sharing meaningful songs with friends and family. His practical jokes kept everyone on their toes, and his trips with his siblings were always filled with laughter and lasting memories. But his greatest love was his family, and nothing brought him more joy than spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. Ken's kindness, sense of humor, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone he met and he will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: Daughters: Christa (Ross) Glover, and Angela Goings (Adam Dowland); Sons: Clyde Goings, and Charles (Liz) Ward; Lifelong Love of 37 years, Betty Sue Goings; Grandchildren: Izzy Glover, Avery Glover, Kenzye Goings, Kaelyin Brinkley, Annabell Drinkwine, Mason Goings, Allen Goings, Halley King, and Andrew King; Great grandson, Ayden King, and two on the way; Siblings: Alice (Willy) Scroggins, Deb (John) Petrik, Frank (Becky) McKeny, Cathy (Jake) Jacobs, Judy McKeny (Dennis), Jim McKeny, and Sandi McKeny; Many loving nieces and nephews who cared for him, particularly Chrissy and Tim Craig; Dear friends, Bud Murray, many beloved members of the hearse community, and good friends and coworkers at O'Guinn; Best Girl and loyal furry companion, Bluey; and last but not least, his beloved 1987 Cadillac hearse. I have so many good memories of Kenny. When we live up north we use to go on the trail with the truck and he would go over big bumps to make the kids laughed so hard and he loved to hear the kids laugh so hard one time he went over a big bumps and the truck stalled out on the trails and one time Deb and John was with us Kenny told Deb take the steering wheel and he started to open the door to get out and she goes what are you doing you are crazy and he was laughed so hard just to see the expression and debs face . My heart is broken in so many pieces I don't know how to pick the pieces up sweetie but I know you will be watching over me and kenzye .Kenny you will always have my heart RIP kenny

Ken was our little brother but his heart was bigger than all the rest of us. He would always go way out of his way to help somebody who was stuck on the side of the road. Only once, our dad took us hunting, and Ken stepped right on a bees nest and got stung something like 123 times. That ended our hunting trips. Later in life, he redeemed himself when I dented a rented U-Haul when he tied the bumper to a tree in his yard and pulled it back in position. I give thanks to him for providing a lifetime full of memories.

I hadn't seen Kenny in many years but he was family. We all grew up together and there will always be a special place in my heart for him.
He was the baby, the one everyone looked out for. Then he became the one that looked out for everyone else. You will be missed.

Mom said ,"What shall we name him? I said " Kenneth Thomas McKeny". He made fun of me for naming him Kenny McKeny. Hey, I was 10 yrs old, give me a break I always told him.

Ken was a great guy. He taught me a bunch of stuff my father couldn't be there to teach me. Him and Betty took me in when I didn't have anywhere else to go, and made me feel like family, never like a burden. I can't even imagine where I would've ended up without them my heart breaks for his family

If YOU met Ken, you have a story to tell. He would talk to anyone, no one was a stranger. If he could help you he would. If you were on the side of a road he would stop. If you had a hearse, he wanted to see it, if you need help with a Halloween display, he was your guy. He could make you laugh, he could make you mad, he would talk your ear off. Everyone who's met him has a story. Can we hear your story please.
