Obituary
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, 870 St. Clair Avenue, Columbus, OH 43201.
Kenneth Wayne McKoy was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Elder Carl Lee McKoy and Mildred McKoy. Kenneth was one of nine children born to the union.
Kenny, fondly known to others was a loving Father. He loved deeply. He was passionate about "all" his family. A devoted son, brother and faithful friend to many. Kenny was kindhearted and generous. He loved to help others.
Kenny loved the Lord, he was baptized on February 4, 1968. He was nine years old. He received the Lord at an early age.
Kenny attended Henry Elementary school in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Central High School June 6, 1977 and attended Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Michigan. Kenny enlisted and served in the United States Navy from 1987 to 1993.
Kenny was a talented musician. He played with the anointing. Kenny was self-taught and talented. Often he would play his guitar all day, it seemed he could play from sun up to sun down. When he played the fresh air of the Holy Ghost would fall on the people of God. The power of the Lord fell through his guitar. One time in particular, Kenny played "Amazing Grace" in the style of Jimi Hendrix until he almost passed out on stage. He shut the church down. Kenny played that guitar, he really let himself go into the music, by the time he was finished playing, people were jumping up and down screaming and running crying out to God. Kenny played with such passion, he really cut up. He was a blessing to everyone he met.
Kenny served as the Minster of Music at the Tabernacle of Jesus Christ, Columbus, Ohio under Bishop Victor L. McKoy.
Kenny was a portfolio entrepreneur owning his own moving company called "McKoy Delivery." He worked this business during his lifetime. He was a hardworking man. His business ethic he learned from his late father.
Kenny was the father of two children, his daughter Kisharra Latrese Garner (Avery Garner Sr.) of Queen Creek, Arizona and his son Kenneth Jay McKoy of Orlando, Florida.
He leaves to cherish his grandchildren Acamaris Patterson, AhVarie Garner, Avery Garner Jr., AyShawn Garner and Great Grandson Aiden Sweatte.
He was preceded in death by his sister Tandra Marie McKoy and his father Carl Lee McKoy.
He is survived by his Mother Mildred (McKoy) Goldston (Charlie Goldston), Hughesville, MD, brothers Victor Lee Mckoy (Connie), Darryl Devon McKoy, Carlton Lee McKoy (Bernice) all of Columbus, OH, brothers Cedric Lynne McKoy (Zandra) of Hughesville, Maryland, Gregory Quinn McKoy, Bamburg, Germany, and sisters Cynthia Lavette McKoy-Collier (Raymond) of Lehigh Acres, Florida and Equilla Darlene McKoy-Lipsey (Willie) of Columbus, Ohio and a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

One of the saddest days of my life was the day I learned that Ken McKoy was no longer with us. In addition to being a great friend and musician, he was an outstanding human being with a stellar character.
Ken´s greatest gift to the world was his compassion for humanity. Helping people is what he was about and he would always do it unceremoniously.
He was my friend, my musical partner and my brother. I´ll miss you, Ken. Rest well.
