MORTON – Kenneth W. “Ken” Moore, 85, of Morton, passed away, Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
He was born on April 5, 1938, Peoria, to Wilbur and Grace (Warner) Moore. He married Joyce Burditt on March 8, 1958, in Paris, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 12, 2005. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Keith Moore and one brother, Wesley Moore.
Ken later married Mary Kribbs Schumm on December 4, 2010, in Deer Creek.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Moore of Morton; son, Darrell (Linda) Moore of Morton; daughter, Jill (Jacob) Van Vooren of Lincoln Park, Illinois; step son, David (Shirley) Schumm of Deer Creek; four grandchildren; Jared (Kate) Moore, Melissa (Pierce) Vanne, Cole Aldeguer and Monet Van Vooren; five step grandchildren, Eric (Kelly) Schumm, Joe Padilla, Joy (Don) Dodd, Jared Schumm, John Padellia; five great grandchildren, Josiah, Jackson and Isaac Vanne and Levi and Silas Moore; three step great grandchildren, Levi Schumm, Izzy and Rider Dodd; one sister, Joyce (Eber) Pennington of East Peoria.
Ken farmed in Morton since 1960 on land that had been in the Moore family since 1862. He also worked for the Morton Township for 12 years, retiring in 2004.
Ken was a member of the Deer Creek Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton with Pastor Steve Evans and Pastor Pierce Vanne officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the funeral home and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, January 6, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Buckeye Cemetery in Morton.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
