Kenneth "Skip" Daniel Baumhardt Sr., age 80, of Waupun, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024.
Skip was born on May 26, 1944, in Waupun, the son of Robert and Grace(Decker) Baumhardt. He graduated from Waupun High School in 1960. Following high school, Skip pursued a career as a barber, serving the community for 11 years before embarking on a new path. On August 22, 1970, he married the love of his life, Monica Hendricks at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun. Their union, which lasted 54 wonderful years, was a testament to their love and commitment to one another.
Following his barber profession, Skip became a manager at Mormann's Feed Company in Minnesota, where he dedicated 20 years to the agricultural community. His professional journey later brought him back to Waupun, where he transitioned into real estate, working with Vandezande Real Estate. Throughout his life, Skip’s work ethic and dedication were apparent; he was always eager to help those around him.
As a member of Pella Lutheran Church, Skip was deeply involved in the community of Waupun. His passion for nature and the outdoors shone through in his hobbies; he was an avid hunter and fisherman who relished moments spent beneath the open sky. Golfing, hockey, and bowling also brought him joy, as did his unwavering support for various sports teams. Skip was known as an enthusiastic sports fan, sharing his love for competition and teamwork with those around him.
Skip is survived by his loving wife, Monica; their two children: Skippy J. Baumhardt (Deanna Hegrefe) and Sarah Sogge; and one cherished grandchild: Zoey Sogge, who brought him so much joy. Along with Skippy's step-children Tyler (Dakota) Hegrefe, and Grady (Syndye) Hegrefe and grandchild, Jackson Hegrefe. Along with Thomas and Kathy Hendricks, Daniel and Barbara Henricks, Kay Hendricks, Karen Hendricks, Barry Netzel and several nieces and nephews.
Kenneth "Skip" Baumhardt will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his deep-rooted connections to his community, and his zest for life. He touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him and leaves a legacy of love that will not be forgotten.
Funeral services for Skip Baumhardt will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
