Kenneth Richard Sperry, age 73, passed away peacefully in his home in Columbus, Ohio with his family on April 9th, 2025 after his battle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism. Ken was born on August 10, 1951 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to James and Helen Sperry. He graduated from Reynoldsburg High School in Reynoldsburg, Ohio in 1969, and in 1975 Ken graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He had a long, successful career in the residential and commercial insurance restoration industry.
Outside of his career, and most importantly, Ken spent his free time with family, friends and his love of music. Ken was both an outstanding trumpet player and teacher. He played in the OSU Jazz Band, was a longtime member of the local big band, Z-Sharp, and would often play as a sub in other local bands. Ken was always willing and excited to participate in local school musical and church productions, offer his support to the Reynoldsburg High School Marching Band, and share his knowledge and passion with his trumpet students. Helping others was second nature to him, and he did so with such enthusiasm and joy that you knew you were loved and welcomed exactly as you are. Ken's devotion to encouraging and lifting up his family, friends, and acquaintances is truly an inspiration to those who have crossed paths with him. His unwavering love and acts of kindness, small or large, will never be forgotten by those who have been blessed by his presence.
Ken is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ann; his daughters, Rian Sperry and Kristen Necovski (Ilija). He was preceded in death by his father, James Sperry, his mother, Helen Sperry, and his younger brother, Tom Sperry.
The Sperry Family will be hosting a celebration of life at the Combustion Brewery & Taproom private event space in Pickerington, Ohio on Saturday, June 28th, 2025 between the hours of 2 PM and 5 PM.
