Obituary published on Legacy.com by Null & Son Funeral Home on Oct. 9, 2025.
Kenton Scott Dinsdale (Kent) was born in Columbia, MO to Albert James Dinsdale, Jr. and Eva Maxine McCumber Dinsdale on April 19, 1962. He passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 6, 2025 in
Rolla, MO at the age of 63 after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. With his family he lived in Colorado and Iowa before moving home to Missouri in 1976. He graduated from Rolla High School in 1980 and the University of Missouri Rolla (MS&T) in 1985 with a degree in Business Economics and a minor in Engineering Management. While at UMR, Kent was a dual sport athlete competing in basketball and golf. He was a two time All American golfer in 1982 and 1984. As an alumni, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for both UMR and Rolla High School. With his talent for golf and a keen mind for business, Kent became a PGA Class A Golf Professional and served at Marriott Tan-Tar-A Resort, Lake Valley Country Club, and Oak Meadow Country Club where he served a total of 20+ years over four different terms. During this time, he competed in the Gateway Section of the PGA where he qualified three times for the National Club Pro Championship. In 1994 he tied for sixth in the nation in the National Club Pro which qualified him to compete in the 1995 PGA Championship at Riviera Country Club in Santa Monica, CA. Expanding upon his business experience, Kent also had a career as a part-owner of Fairground Chevrolet in Rolla and Cuba for 11 years and was the Broker/Owner of Dinsdale Realty and Dinsdale Properties for nearly 20 years.
Kent was united in marriage to Martha Addison in 1984 in Montreal, MO. To this union God blessed them with five sons, Tyler (Whitney) of Camdenton, Andrew Dinsdale Claxton of Overland Park, KS, Tanner (Anne) of Rolla, Trevor (Ellen) of Lees Summit, and Trustin (Mason) of Wheat Ridge, CO. These sons blessed Kent with his greatest delight of eight grandchildren: Zeke, Harlow, Blake, Gunnar, Wren, Axel, Ada and Callie Dinsdale. Without hesitation, Kent would say that his greatest gift in life was that of his family.
An avid sportsman, Kent loved hunting, fishing, trivia and all things athletic. Whenever possible Kent would slip away to his happy place, Elmo, MO, where stories were told, memories were made and all were welcome. Kent loved a cookout on the deck with friends, family, and various college students who needed a break from university life. His door was always open. Being a man of action, Kent's words were a little harder to come by. He might not have been able to tell you how he felt, but he would sure show you. He was hard-working, independent to a fault and self-sufficient until he wasn't. On August 3, 2025 Kent became a follower instead of a leader. Trusting in Jesus, Kent faced his final days with a peace that gave him great comfort. He wanted to make sure people knew that.
Along with his immediate family, Kent is also survived by his parents, Jim and Maxine of Camdenton, brothers, Kevin (Vicky) of Bolivar and Ty (Julie) of Linn Creek, mother-in-law, Mabel Addison of Springfield, brothers and sisters in law, Ken and Rebecca Keltner of El Dorado Springs and Wilbur and Miriam Durnell of Weaubleau, along with aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Martha and family would like to thank his wonderful care team of Dr. Kim Johnson, Dr. Yaqoob Ali and the entire Mercy team along with Three Rivers Hospice. We are also deeply blessed by the loving support given by his brothers, Kevin and Ty along with the many friends and family who visited and kept him company until the very end.
A memorial service for Kent Dinsdale will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the First Baptist Church in Rolla. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m. at the church. After the service, the celebration of Kent's life will continue at the Oak Meadow Country Club, 10700 CR 3110,
Rolla, MO. All are welcome.
