Beloved Father, Grandfather, and Brother

WATERBURY – Kevin P. Carmody, age 67, of Waterbury passed away unexpectedly at home on May 26, 2024. He was the husband of the late Marlene (Fontana) Carmody.

Kevin was born March 19, 1957, in Waterbury, CT, son of the late Brendan T. and Helen M. (Corcoran) Carmody. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Hawaii as a Tank Mechanic. Kevin spent many years working at Superior Transmission Inc. as a mechanic, specializing in diesel repair until his retirement. He was known around the shop as Cooter. He enjoyed fishing and had the ability to fix just about anything that was broken, even claiming to fix broken hearts. What Kevin truly enjoyed most in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to sneak them McDonald’s and cookies whenever possible. Kevin enjoyed attending all his grandchildren's sporting events cheering from the sidelines, always making sure the referee was calling the plays fairly.

Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his children; Sharon Pratt and her husband, Brian of Bristol, and Pamela Carmody of Waterbury. He is also survived by his siblings; Timothy Carmody and his wife Cindy of Prospect, Thomas Carmody of GA, Patrick Carmody and his wife Brenda of FL, Mary D’Avino and her partner, Peter of Bethlehem, Catherine Roberge of Chaplin, Margaret Jasiulevicius and her husband Al of Waterbury, Christine Carmody of FL, John Carmody of Waterbury and Brenda Carmody and her partner Stas, of Waterbury. He also leaves his 6 grandchildren; Ayden, Ella, Brendan, Anna, Samantha, and Brianne and his three great grandchildren; Vincent, Lorenzo, and Giada as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Carmody will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main St, Waterbury, CT, to Saint Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St, Waterbury, to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Kevin’s family on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until leaving for the services at 10:30 a.m. Loving kindness is always welcome, and it only takes a moment to offer a message of condolence or words of comfort or share a memory of someone important to you with your family and friends.
