Kevin Ely, 56, of Nashville, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday morning, September 28, 2024.
Kevin was born on December 18, 1967 in Indianapolis. He was a proud graduate of Brown County High School, class of 1986, and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Technology from Purdue University in 1991. He recently retired in 2024 after serving as a Senior Estimator at Milestone Contractors in Columbus for 29 years.
Kevin was a devoted member of Nashville Christian Church for 32 years, where he had previously served as a Deacon. He loved spending time outdoors. You could find him working around his property, fishing, or hunting mushrooms and ginseng. He was also an avid fan of Purdue University Athletics and Notre Dame football.
His greatest joy came from being with his family. He enjoyed traveling and hiking with his loving wife. He valued his time spent coaching and supporting his three sons in their varying interests and endeavors. He treasured every moment spent with his three grandchildren, who were the light of his life for the past 7 ½ years.
Kevin is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 31 years, Brenda (Bond) Ely, whom he married on May 15, 1993. He is also survived by his sons, Christian Ely of Houston, TX, and Austin (Vanessa) Ely of Versailles; his mother, Carol (Jim) Roberts of Brown County; mother-in-law, Marilyn Bond of Helmsburg; brother, Jon Ely of Brown County; sister Shawn (Jay) Frederick of Columbus; brother-in-law, Brad Bond of Nashville; sister-in-law, Barb Foley, of Unionville; and cherished grandchildren, RaeLynn, Wesley, and Wyatt Ely.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Travis Ely, on October 16, 2023; his maternal grandparents, Henry and Anna Herrmann; father-in-law, Bill Bond; and nephew, Kyle Foley.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Rev. Tim Bond will officiate the funeral service on Thursday, October 3, at 11 a.m. at Nashville Christian Church, 160 S. Van Buren Street. Burial will follow at Weeping Willow Cemetery in Bean Blossom.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kevin's honor to the "Travis Ely Memorial Scholarship Fund" PO Box 191, Nashville, IN 47448.
