Kevin Grinnell, a beloved resident of Port Neches, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 20th, 2023, at the age of 58, joining his Lord and Savior.
Born on January 30th, 1965, Kevin was the cherished child of Elizabeth Waldrop Grinnell and Wiley Grinnell, Jr. He completed his education at Port Neches High School in 1983 and later served in the United States Army. He then embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, establishing and owning Grinnell Computers and Security in Beaumont, Texas, where he dedicated many years to serving his community.
Kevin had a passion for cooking, a deep love for music, and most importantly his family and friends. He found joy in outdoor activities such as golf, deep water diving, snorkeling, and anything related to water. Kevin shared a love for creating his specialty drinks such as margaritas, espresso martinis, and mules. His infectious smile, quick wit, and genuine affection for people is what friends and family adored most.
An excellent storyteller, Kevin's tales, fondly referred to as "Kevinism's," captivated everyone around him. He held his family dearly and relished shared vacations, creating cherished memories together. Kevin's warmth extended beyond his biological family, embracing his adopted family as his own.
Kevin leaves behind his beloved wife, Trudy Odom Grinnell of Port Neches, Texas, as well as his adored son, Victor "Vic" Aponte of Port Neches. He also cherished Steve and Hazel Odom, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kim and Keith LaBier, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and respective children, who all became like his own family. Among his cherished companions were his bird, Loki, and his fur babies, Yogi, Winston, Tucker, and Cooper.
On Saturday, July 29th, 2023, a gathering of family and friends will be held in remembrance of Kevin's life at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. Visitation will be at 3:00 p.m. and service at 4:00 p.m.
Kevin's spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate to have known and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.

I met Kevin when we purchased a rental property across the street from his business. He was warm and sharing. We became friends. I found Kevin to be intelligent, principled and genuinely kind. There are some people you meet in life that just carry a glow a kindness about themselves. He was always willing to give and offer help, which I took advantage of from time to time. I learned of his passing and it hit me like a punch in gut. I will miss him and sincerely wish the best for his family. No words can express how truly sorry I am for your loss. If I can do anything to help with the issues you face going forward, please know I would do anything within my capabilities in honor of Kevin.

Sincerely,

I´ll never forget the first time I met Kevin, he burst into the room and proceeded to act like an alien with a straw in each nostril. Hahhahahhahhah
The man had a funny way about him! My time with him almost always included laughter.
He spent about 10 years as my stepdad and I´m grateful to have known him.
Most recently I asked Kev to donate a used computer for a fellow military veteran and when I showed up to retrieve it he shared pics of his birds and pups and the laptop was brand new. :). That veteran is doing well and that laptop helped pave the way for a job. Thanks Kev!!!

Trudy, Vic and host of pets,,,,I am truly sorry for your pain and loss. He leaves a large empty space. May you fill it with love for one another.
