Kevin was born on July 24, 1962, in
Little Falls, Minnesota, to the late Kenneth and Irene Kowitz. He graduated from Pierz Healy High School with the Class of 1980. On Friday, February 14, 1992, he was united in marriage to Rose Brezinka at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, Minnesota. Kevin began truck driving at just 15 years old alongside his father, Kenneth, with Kowitz Trucking, a path that would shape the rest of his life. He continued with Kowitz Trucking until 1994 and later drove for Coborn's Grocery stores until 2016. Most recently, he was employed with R.J. Lanners Trucking. Throughout his long-haul career, Kevin hauled just about anything and everything, supporting his family from the seat of his big rig as he traveled coast to coast. Even while working full-time, he often took on part-time driving positions with Wiseway Transportation and Maiers Transport to ensure his family was well provided for. When Kevin wasn't on the road, he treasured time outdoors. He enjoyed deer and grouse hunting, fishing, boating with family and friends, and snowmobiling. He loved playing cards, sitting around a campfire, and feeding the birds and deer near his home. Kevin was also very crafty and skilled with his hands. He built two wooden canoes, one from pine and another from cedar, completed with beautifully crafted caned seats. Above all else, Kevin was most proud of his two sons and the men they have become. He taught them to value family, appreciate nature and animals, and to carry a strong work ethic throughout their lives. Kevin was the kind of man who would always stop to help someone stranded along the roadside, an example of compassion and service to others.
Kevin is surivived by wife, Rose Brezinka-Kowitz; sons, Stephen Kowitz and Samuel Kowitz; sisters. Kim (Steve) Will, Coleen McNally, Susan Kowitz and Kris Jore; and many nieces, nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Kenneth and Irene Kowitz and brother, Keith Kowitz.
The family of Kevin kindly asks that you do not ponder how or why he left this world. That is between him and God. Instead, please honor Kevin by remembering how he lived, by helping others in their time of need, loving his family deeply, and working hard every day to provide for those he cared about.
In Lieu of Flowers Memorials are Preferred.
