Waddington: Kevin James Patnode, age 72, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Friends and family may be received on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, from 12:00 pm to time of services at 3:00 pm at Phillips Memorial Home in Waddington, located at 28 Clinton Street, with Rev. Scott Belina officiating. Burial will be held in the spring in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waddington at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home in Waddington.
Kevin was born on February 28, 1953, in Massena, New York to Bernard and Barbara (Post) Patnode.
He graduated from Madrid-Waddington High School in 1971, and attended Canton ATC.
Kevin worked and was a dedicated Iron Worker for several years before working at the Rhode Island Water Company. Later, he owned and operated his own company, KJP Carpentry, until his retirement in 2022.
Kevin was married to his first wife, Sheila Barrett which later ended in divorce. They had four children: Elizabeth, Andrew, Kevin Jr. and Rebecca.
In his free time, Kevin took great pride in his property and lawn. He was also a very talented woodworker. Kevin loved to entertain and host parties for friends and family and was an excellent cook. He had an excellent sense of humor and loved a good joke.
He was a member of the Sons of The American Legion, where he was instrumental in gathering donations and prizes for the annual Waddington Fishing Derby put on by the Waddington American Legion Post No. 420.
Kevin is survived by his mother Barbara Patnode, wife Laura, his children; Elizabeth, Andrew of Nantucket, Kevin Jr. and Rebecca of Boston, his stepchildren Jennifer and Ricky Brianard and William Oshier and companion Frankki Massia. His grandchildren, Alyssa, Alyson, Hunter, Geoffrey, Sydney, Alex, Michael, Cole. A brother Keith of Miami. FL, a sister Denise Congleton and companion Jim Rupert of Morristown, a sister Dawn and husband Don Washington of Ogdensburg, nephews: Joey Bonaparte of Dewitt, Paul and Stacey Congleton of Bronxville, Matt and Megan Congleton of Ogdensburg, Michael Patnode of Texas and a niece Justine Patnode, Texas. He was predeceased by his father Bernard and a sister Peggy Bonaparte.
