Kevin Francis Schmalz, Jr., 30 years old, of Mays Landing and Little Egg Harbor, NJ passed away suddenly on March 2, 2025. He is survived by his mother Marjorie of Mays Landing, NJ and his father Kevin Sr. of Haines City, Florida. One brother, Patrick of Mays Landing, NJ. Also, his Uncle Harry and Aunt Betsy of Cincinnati, Ohio, Aunts Nancy and Ellen Sarasota, Florida and Aunt Ellen of Austin, Texas. Kevin was previously married to Brittney Gimbel of Tuckerton, NJ. Kevin loved all his family and friends, and was born in West Long Branch, NJ on April 4, 1994. He attended Avon Elementary School and graduated from Pinelands Regional High School in Little Egg Harbor, NJ and Ocean County College in Toms River, NJ. He attended Stockton University 's Geology program. Kevin grew up wishing to join his father at the Avon Fire Department, of which his father was a member. He loved all his fire department friends that he grew up with. He played football, baseball and soccer, and enjoyed boy scouting, where he learned to love the outdoors. Kevin loved camping, hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking. He loved to box, to carve wood, and played guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Kevin was very interested in science and studied geology, mathematics and physics. His studies led him to work various jobs including with his father in the plumbing and HVAC trades, land surveying, engineering, and where he found his niche in life as a Geographic Information Specialist (GIS) working for Atlantic City Electric in Atlantic City NJ. Kevin was also, a license d drone pilot, and was very proud of the many certifications he achieved in the computer fields. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 7th, 2025, at 10am, followed by a Catholic Mass at 11am at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 5021 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, NJ 08330. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that an online donation in his name be made to Batsto Village, a part of Wharton State Forest, to where Kevin loved to go to find comfort and peace. Kevin was known to everyone as a kindhearted, caring, and loving man that will be greatly missed. He dearly loved and was loved by his family.
