Kevin James Tate

Kevin James Tate, age 59, of Cleveland and formerly of Toledo, Ohio passed away suddenly on Monday, April 28, 2025. He was born on May 29, 1965, in Toledo, Ohio to parents Bernal Arthur and Alma Jean (nee Davidson) Tate.
Kevin grew up outside Toledo in Sylvania Township and was a 1983 graduate of Sylvania Southview High School where he enjoyed running track and cross-country and riding his bicycle. He attended the University of Toledo where he was a proud brother of the Gamma Nu Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in health care administration at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio. Kevin also proudly served as a reservist in the US Army National Guard.
Kevin was a talented, intelligent and artistic individual who loved drawing, writing poetry and coming up with ideas for new inventions. He chose to make his career designing and installing landscaping because he loved the outdoors and the smell of fresh cut grass. He was currently employed as an irrigation technician and was excited to start this new season with DeFazio's Landscaping. His love of automobiles took several shapes, from knowing the sound of a specific engine far off, to being an amateur photographer of antique cars. But his favorite place, especially in recent years, has been on the porch with Joy, listening to music from the radio or the birds, and getting lost in conversation and laughter.
Kevin is survived by his beloved life partner of twelve years Joy McDaniel and her sons Jeremy Louden (Theresa) and Scott Louden (Kristen); his dear mother Alma Jean Tate; loving siblings Kathryn Jacoby, Kenneth Tate (Bobbie Jo), Karen Brigance, Victor Hollingshead (Susan), and Michael Hollingshead (Janet); cherished nieces and nephews Carlton (Catherine), Jeffrey (Gillian), Lucas, Gabrielle, Mark, David, Joey, Stephen, and Beth. He was preceded in death by his father Bernal Arthur Tate.
