Kevin R. Westjohn, 66, of San Diego passed away from metastatic cancer on November 5, 2022. Kevin was raised in Michigan close to Middle Straits Lake where he spent most of his summers at the local beach. He treasured family vacations each year in Oscoda on Lake Huron and holiday weekend camping at Saugatuck, MI, and Pinery Provincial Park in Ontario. He graduated from West Bloomfield High School and attended Oakland University. He is predeceased by his parents, Walter E. Westjohn and Jane Ellen (nee Denny) Golombisky, and his beloved sister, Sena Hendrick, who passed away in April 2022. Kevin is survived by his spouse of 40 years, Benedict Fabian, his brother Stephen (Carol), MI, sister Christine, KS, stepfather Dale Golombisky, MI, nieces/nephews Julie Tardiff, KS, Sarah (Aaron) Hood, IN, Dana Westjohn-Schwinck (Justin), WY, Joseph Hendrick, Los Angeles, David (Railya) Hendrick, OR, as well great-nieces and nephews, and cousin Michael Scott, OH. Kevin moved to San Diego in 1989 and worked as an accountant, real estate appraiser and realtor. At the ago of 40 he proudly biked the California AIDS Ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. He volunteered with several AIDS support groups and Lutherans Concerned. He loved learning new things and became proficient at growing orchids, photography, succulent gardening, bowling, cooking, quilting, bicycling, and square dancing with Finest City Squares. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the San Diego LGBT Community Center:

Kevin,

I am deeply saddened to just hear about your passing. It was truly an honor to have had the opportunity to guide and support you as your mentor when you first entered the real estate market as a Realtor. Your loving nature, kind soul, and ever-present smile made you a cherished member of our office. I was also privileged to serve as your Broker of Record for a brief period, which further solidified our bond.

Your life was a testament to the warmth and positivity you brought to those around you. Your presence will be sorely missed by your family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing you. My heartfelt condolences go out to your partner of 44 years, Benedict Fabian, as well as to your countless family members who held you dear.

May you rest in peace, Kevin. You will be remembered fondly and missed deeply.

With heartfelt sympathy,

Robert Schantz - Your KW Family Member

Memories? I don´t even know where to start. Uncle Kevin, you taught me to love everyone for who they are, materials don´t mean anything, never settle, always be the best you can be. Words can´t express how grateful I am that we took that last trip to Michigan together. I never imagined at that time that in order to see you again I would have to pass away. I already miss our conversations. I could go on and in about how much I will miss, but I´m going to end this note with you were the best uncle anyone could ask for and I will see you again some day.

Brother Steve.
