On Monday, May 19th at the age of 53, Kevin Charles Wilson went home to be with the Lord.
Kevin was born in New Orleans, LA. on Jan. 31, 1972 to the union of the Late Charles Wilson and Sandra H. Wilson. He was the father of Chance Kevin Allen and brother of Nicole Michelle Wilson. He was the former husband of Chara Willis. Kevin was baptized at an early age at Fifth African Baptist Church by the late Rev. Joseph H. Green. As a youth he was active in Sunday School and a member of the Youth Usher Board. He was a faithful member until he matriculated to Southern University in Baton Rouge.
Kevin received his education in the Orleans Parish Public School System. He attended Bienville Elementary School and F.W. Gregory Middle School. In 1990 he graduated from Warren Easton High School where he was on the Easton Eagles football team. He received a full athletic scholarship to Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA. where he was a member of the Southern Jaguars SWAC Champion Football team.
Kevin always wanted to have his own business. His first love was music and he became known as DJ K-One, DJ'ing all over New Orleans. He later started renting bounce houses and opened K-One Party Rentals and Supplies. Later he joined some friends and became part owner of Breaux's Pizzeria and Wine Bar.
He leaves to cherish his memories mother Sandra Herbert Wilson, son Chance Kevin Allen, sister Nicole Michelle Wilson, aunts Patricia E. Pool and Geraldine M. Herbert, uncle William Wilson, great aunts Mable Thomas, Mayme Gardner, first cousins, Glynes Herbert, Corey (Piajay) Herbert, Colin Herbert, Allison Mackey and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Wilson, paternal grandparents, Charlie and Eula Wilson, maternal grandparents Herman Herbert and Dorothy Herbert, uncle Ruben Herbert, Sr., and cousins Ruben Herbert, Jr. and Dionne May.
Pastors, officers, and members of Fifth African Baptist Church and Carver Desire Baptist Church, relatives and friends of the family, employees of Lincoln School for the Arts and Labmar Ferry, Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale, Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club and Warren Easton Class of 1990 are invited to attend the funeral service at Fifth African Baptist Church, 3419 So. Robertson St. (entrance on Louisiana Ave.), Saturday, May 31, 2025. Visitation begins at 9:00 A.M. Service at 10:00 A.M. Interment follows at Providence Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Metairie, LA.
