STAR LAKE – Kim Cooper, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on February 19, 2025 at the Clifton-Fine Hospital.
Calling hours will be held at French Family Funeral Home in Star Lake on Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. There is no formal service. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Kim was born on November 30, 1958 in Gouverneur to the late Edward Drake, Sr. and Patricia (Guiles) Pomerville. She grew up in Rochester, Conifer, and Star Lake, and graduated from Clifton-Fine Central School in 1976 and from Mater Dei College in Ogdensburg.
She married Darrell "Chuck" Cooper, Jr. on July 19, 2006. The couple has been together for 39 years. Kim had worked as a nurse's aide for Clifton-Fine Hospital, a bartender for the Chapel/Blue Bird, as a clerk for Nice-N-Easy and U.B.'s Mercantile, a laborer for the Newton Falls Paper Mill and a teller for Community Bank in Star Lake where she retired in 2022.
Kim loved spending time with her grandkids, diamond painting, watching Hallmark movies, and being on her computer. She was a member of the Gouverneur VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell "Chuck" Cooper, Jr., two children, Patti Jo Drake and Brandi Irene Morse, two step-children, Jessica (Neil) Green and Bert Cooper, her brother, Daniel (Penny) Drake, sister-in-law, Cindy Drake, and 9 grandchildren.
Kim is predeceased by her parents, her step-father, Donald Pomerville, and a brother, Edward Drake, Jr.
Donations in memory of Kim may be made to the Clifton-Fine Hospital or the Center for Cancer Care in Potsdam.
