Kimberlyn Baker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory - Downtown Suffolk on Feb. 26, 2026.
Suffolk, VA – With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of Kimberlyn Dunn Baker (Kim/Kimmy), who left us on February 26, 2026, at the age of 63, after a courageous battle with COPD. She was a woman of rare strength and unwavering devotion-a caregiver to many and truly the heartbeat of her family.

Kim is survived by her devoted husband, John Baker, Sr.; her beloved children, Carrie Long (Gordon Meekins, Jr.), Christina Tumminelli (Brandon Olejniczak), John Baker, Jr. (Marci Blackwood), and Matthew Baker (Danielle Baker). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Alyssa Carter, Colin Long, Dylan Tumminelli, Lyliana Tumminelli, Adrian Long, Avalyn Long, John Baker III, and Madison Baker; and her treasured great-grandchildren: Aaliyah Carter, Journee Carter, Layla Baker, Olive Baker, and John Baker IV.

She is also survived by her loving mother and stepfather, Hilda and C. Leon Barton; her siblings, Angela Snead, Wendy Weaver (Gary Weaver), Julie Chandler, and Joni Chandler; along with a wide circle of extended family and dear friends.

Kim was preceded in death by her son, Steven Long II; her infant child lost in pregnancy; her sister, Rhonda Giles; and her father, Rommie Dunn.

In keeping with Kim's explicit wishes, no formal funeral or memorial services will be held. The family deeply appreciates your love and support during this time and asks that you honor Kim's memory in your own private way.
