A celebration of Kitty Matteile Sneed Richardson's life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 1:00 o'clock at Osborn Funeral Home, 3631 Southern Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation with family and friends will also be at the funeral home immediately prior to the service beginning at noon.

Kitty Sneed Richardson was born on July 4, 1926, the first of nine children in the marriage of Hugh McArthur Sneed and Matteile Frazier Sneed; and she died on August 17, 2025. She was the widow of Joseph Alfred Richardson, Sr., to whom she was married from August 2, 1946, until the time of his death on July 25, 1966. Kitty is survived by her children, Julia Brown of San Diego, California; Chris Richardson and wife Anne of Houston, Texas; Lena-Beth Hunsaker of Cypress, Texas; Dorothy Jenkins and husband David of Rowlett, Texas; Eileen Byrd of Shreveport; and Joe Richardson and wife Lisa of Milton, Georgia. Mama Kitty, as she was known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her children's friends, and many others, is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Kitty are her sister, Sue Walsh and her husband Dan of Houston, Texas; her brothers, Jack Sneed, and Bill Kirk Sneed, and wife Lydia of Metairie, Louisiana; her brother-in-law A.L. Williams of Choudrant, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Zachary Lee Richardson; and her other siblings, Dorothy Pike and husband, Reverend Martin E. Pike, James T. Sneed and wife Barbara, Sebron Morris Sneed and wife Louise, and Sarah Williams.

Mrs. Richardson was a graduate of C. E. Byrd High School, class of 1944. After high school, Kitty attended Centenary College where she was named Miss Centenary and Kappa Sigma Sweetheart in 1945. After becoming a widow and while raising a family, it was in 1975 that she accomplished her goal by earning a bachelor's degree from Centenary. After retiring from the U.S. Probation Office in 1992, Mrs. Richardson pursued a second career as a paraprofessional in the Special Education Department at Riverside Elementary School in Shreveport, from which she retired at the age of 78. Through these adventures, Mama Kitty believed she could, and she did, make a difference in the lives of many of God's Special Angels who live with physical and mental challenges. In 1993, the PTA at Riverside Elementary deemed her as "Outstanding Grandparent", an honor Mama Kitty treasured.
