Koby Muncey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Meeks Mortuary & Crematory - Washington Street Chapel on Mar. 22, 2023.
Koby Jay Muncey, 21, passed away Sunday evening, March 19, 2023 surrounded by his family. He showed tremendous strength all the way until the end. His impact is immeasurable, and he will be missed dearly.
Koby was born December 3, 2001, in Muncie, the son of Jason and Nancy (Griffis) Muncey. He attended Grissom Elementary, Southside Middle School, and Muncie Central High School earning a Certificate of Completion. He participated in the Prism Project at Ball State University for 10 years.
Koby loved school and looked forward each day to riding the school bus. He was blessed to have many excellent special education teachers and aides who added great joy to his life as he did to theirs. Clarky and Ron who are basically living legends drove Koby to school for over 10 years and became two of his best friends who covered for his many shenanigans. Koby's big toothy smile and beautiful spirit had a way of infiltrating the hearts of all. He loved to take pictures with his many friends and kept them in a container where he shuffled through them often. He had an impressive collection of little people that represented each person in his life, and he knew exactly each one. He was a collector of stuff and your stuff was his stuff. He loved school buses, tractors, big trucks, tools, and lawnmowers. He was a man's man and Tucker Carlson's biggest fan. Always in the mood to add to his stuff, he loved trips to Goodwill, rummage sales, and flea markets. Koby always enjoyed swimming and spent the past two summers floating in his boat in the family pool. He loved Handy Manny, Bob the Builder, and Little Einstein's. Koby will be remembered for his sweet generous spirit, beautiful whole face smile, endless hugs, and incredibly strong will despite his tough commission.
He is survived by his parents, Jason and Nancy Muncey; sister, Josie Griffis; brother, Jacob (Shannon) Muncey and nephew Jonas Muncey-all better known as Daddy Jason, Mommy Nancy, Gorge or Jo Sissy, Jacob Boy, and Baby Jonas. He is also survived by maternal grandparents, Jerry and Jane Griffis; paternal grandparent, Susie (Gene) Lang; uncle Kurt (Lauren) Griffis; uncle Bubba (Kim) Muncey; aunt Rachelle (Jon) Rodriquez; cousins Isaac, Zion and Levi Griffis and Brannon, Haylie, and Lindsey Muncey and Michelle Rodriquez; great uncles Barry (Pat) Parkison and Scott (Melanie) Parkison; special friend Jon Peckinpaugh and his mom, Robin; and his very best buddy, Roxanne Boehm.
Koby was preceded in death by paternal grandparent Ray Muncey.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Glad Tidings Church, 3001 S. Burlington Drive, Muncie, with Pastor Kevin Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Black Cemetery, Albany.
Family and friends may call at Glad Tidings Church, 3001 S. Burlington Drive, Muncie, on Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, or one hour prior to services on Monday.

ANNE M EVANS

March 26, 2023

Koby is one of those rare jewels you're blessed to know. Koby could race down the halls at lighting speed, with Roxanne hot on his heels, the school halls were filled with her voice, yelling, "Koby J, you get back here!" He'd sometimes pass me in the hall, saying, "You're pretty," and he would keep going. As slippery as he was, he would shoot right past me. Seriously though, I think he was laughing at Roxanne chasing him. He loved it.
Nothing could never warm your heart more than him giving you a hug and then saying he loved you.
Koby will truly be missed.
My sincerest condolences to the whole Muncey family, his presence will be missed.
For Koby, I would vote for Tucker Carlson should he ever decide to run for president.
Run fast and free Koby. Vote for Tucker. Give big hugs to those you love; may God bless and keep your family in the arms of Jesus.
