Koshy Thempelakal Koshy

Koshy Thempelakal Koshy was born in Kaviyoor, Kerala, India, as the third of six children to the late Mathen and Allyamma Koshy, of the Pakalomattom, Pandirical, Thempelakal Kudumbom. After completing his education, he moved to North India, where he began his professional and family life. In 1966, he married Acheyamma George (Moni) in a dual wedding ceremony with his brother, the late T.K. Mathai. Soon after, their daughters, Elezabeth (Lisa) and Achamma (Chotti), were born.
He served as a government officer in the Irrigation Department, contributing to numerous projects as an Assistant Engineer in Gwalior and Bhopal. In 1978, he immigrated to the United States, where he worked at Monogram/Revell in Morton Grove until his retirement in 2002, forming lifelong friendships along the way.
After settling in Morton Grove, he attended St. John Brebeuf Church in Niles before joining St. Mary's Malankara Catholic Church in 1992. There, he found the faith and fellowship of his childhood traditions. He was a fixture at church and attended weekly whenever health allowed. His faith was quiet yet firm.
He was blessed with two caring sons-in-law who became part of his close-knit family, and later with five beloved grandchildren who affectionately called him Apputti. After retirement, he spent his days surrounded by family, tending to his garden, and visiting his cherished Thempelakal home in Kerala during the winter months.
Throughout his later years, he faced numerous health challenges with courage and endurance, consistently impressing both his family and doctors, and pulling through every health setback. On October 14, 2025, he spent the day doing what he loved most: preparing his garden for the changing season. He went to sleep and woke up early with a headache. The hospital visit that followed was sudden, and no one anticipated the outcome. True to his nature, he fought with resilience and grace, but on October 22, 2025, at 1:20 p.m., his Creator called him home to care for eternal gardens above.
We place him in the care of the Almighty and pray for his eternal peace. Even in our sorrow, we will carry his memories, honor his legacy, and hold on to the lessons he shared through his life.
