Kristi Lynn Holmes, the daughter of Peggy and Jack Holmes, was born on January 11, 1977 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Kristi was raised and attended school in Fort Gibson, OK. She moved to Owasso in the late 90s to become a homemaker and raise her children with their father, Chris Overbey. Later in life, she would spend her remaining days in Coweta, OK in the care of her sisters, family and friends.
Kristi was dedicated to her family. Her children were her pride and joy. At the age of 17, Kristi welcomed Dakota and three years later Brooklynn. She raised them to be strong and caring individuals. She would ensure they were taken care of, even if it was a simple snack pack for a long workday or spending hours gossiping with them. Her children referred to her as an epic "momma bear" as she was very protective of them. She was selfless in her love for her children.
During her school age years, Kristi would form friendships with many but a very special bond was created with Jennifer Prock Burrows and Gina Sonnier Pruitt. Their friendship would last for over 30 years. She was always up for a good time with her friends. She was a good listener, accepting, and made you feel valued, loved, and included. They were with her until the end and they will continue that friendship, sharing her memory with her family.
Her family remembers Kristi in the love she shared through her meals. She was the family cook and took pride in serving her loved ones at all the holidays. Holidays were huge for her and she loved celebrating them. As a homemaker, Kristi enjoyed providing for her children and babysitting for friends and family. However, she enjoyed hobbies of beading, crafting, gardening, coloring, and listening to music. You could often find her watching Big Brother, The Voice, or her Dallas Cowboys on television. She was a Big Brother Super Fan always following live streams and Twitter for updates. She spent many nights on Serena's patio listening to music or enjoying a good bon fire perhaps sipping on Pinot Grigio, these places brought her comfort. She always had to hit QuikTrip for that good ice. She will be remembered as a person of great strength who was stubborn, hard-headed, protective, and yet with a fragility of one with a large and deep inclusive caring heart who always put others first.
Those waiting in heaven to welcome her include her father Jack Pigeon Holmes, her maternal grandparents Jim and Irene Martin, her paternal grandparents Wilson and Narcie Holmes, her brother Eddie Holmes and her step-sister Tonya Michelle Martin all of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Kristi had a special bond with animals and had numerous pets that will be ready to greet her.
Those left to cherish her and enjoy her memories are her mother Peggy Holmes; her son, Dakota, her daughter Brooklynn and partner Shaun Cunningham; her sisters Angel and spouse Richard Galvan; Serena Holmes and fiancé Amber Nalls; Nikki Holmes and partner Ryan Fontenot; Teresa Byfield and partner Chad Monday; and brothers Jack Jr. and spouse Amy Holmes; and Michael and spouse Jami Holmes. She is also loved by her stepfather David Holmes, her stepmother Linda Holmes, and by best friends Jennifer Burrows and Gina Pruitt. She was a proud "auntie" who will be cherished by Jordan Galvan and spouse Delena, Hayleigh Galvan, twins Amiyah Holmes, Kiyah Holmes and partner Devren Eagle, Evan Holmes, Erin Fontenot, Ashley Byfield and partner Bum Barnoski, Tyler Holmes, Ethan Holmes, Alex Holmes, Jaxon Holmes, Holly Holmes, Autumn Holmes, and Eddie Holmes. She adored her great nephews Maverick Galvan and Mikah Galvan along with Aiden Barnoski and great niece Jaye Barnoski. Her loving family includes numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. Her legacy of loving and serving others lives on even though cancer tried to steal that away from her, she carries her love on. A special thank you to all for being a part of her journey.
