Vera Jean Ward, 81, of Warner, OK, passed away peacefully at her home on August 26, 2025. She was born on June 19, 1944, to Lawrence Cecil Pack and Cherry Vennie Pack (Barton).

Vera grew up in the community she loved and graduated from Warner Schools in 1962. She attended Connors State College for a time and later lived in many places across the United States before returning to Warner. Vera dedicated much of her working life to serving others through her role as an assistant librarian, both at the public library and Connors State College, before retiring to spend more time with her family.

Vera's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her sons, James Ward Jr. of Warner, and David Ward and wife Heather of Warner; daughter-in-law, Shel Ward of Porum; grandchildren, John Ward Jr., Ehlana Ward, Katarina Garrison, Franklin Ward, Dominic Garrison, Brooklyn Ward, Robert Ward, Taylor Welter, Devan Kasper, Alyssa Ward, and Liliana Ward; her brother, Clinton Pack; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Cherry Pack; her husband, James Ward; her son, John Ward; and her brother, Gerald Pack.

Vera will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home. Following the service, Vera will be laid to rest at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at 1:30 PM, alongside her beloved husband, James.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home of Muskogee.
