Kristin Pitak Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 24, 2023.
Kristin Carol Pitak
Of Zion
Kristin Carol Pitak was born December 12,1984 in Arlington Heights to James R. and Joyce C. (Sorensen) Pawlik.
When Kristin was born, she received the highest rating of all babies birthed in the NCH Maternity Ward, and this was a harbinger of her many future accomplishments. Her mother Joyce took full advantage of the AHML children's library reading at least two books every night before bedtime. She began reading when she was four years old, and she became a lifetime of lover of reading and writing prose and poems.
She was an honor roll student at St. Peter Grammer school and enjoyed participating in plays, religious pageants and other scholastic events.
She attended and graduated from Rolling Meadows High School.
She graduated Magnum Cum Laud from what is now Roosevelt University in Chicago by going to night school and while raising two beautiful and intelligent young girls Chi and Lydia with significant support from her own mom.
She survived a broken marriage, several years of substance abuse, and became drug free for six years! She volunteered for many events and wrote articles and performed mailings for the Friends of Plum & Pilot Islands Lighthouse Association. She enjoyed camping with us at Peninsula Park and was looking forward to camp with us in the Spring. She loved flowers and animals but she was particularly fond of cats.
On Sunday March 12th she was murdered by a man whom she though was a longtime friend. She will be missed by us, her parents, and many friends and will never be forgotten. She lived a short but interesting life with many peaks and valleys. We believe that she was poised to accomplish much more had she lived out a normal life span. She was very interested in becoming an addiction counselor but could not raise a scholarship. This summer we intend to erect a bench in her memory on one of the islands.
Kristin is survived by her children Chi Denig, Lydia Pitak and Scott Jr.; and by her parents.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Carol and Rudolph Fruehe and Floyd and Rose Pawlik.
Visitation Friday, March 24, 2023 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive Street, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral at 11:00 AM. Interment St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery, Arlington Heights.

I only knew Kristin when she was a child but I kept in touch with her mother, Joyce who is also my cousin. I know Kristin had challenges as a young woman but I remain impressed with her many accomplishments. I share the pain of her parents' loss and I know that her children will remember that she loved them and I believe that Kristin will always be with them in spirit. Janet Kreft

I am always going to miss you mom. You hold such a special place in my heart. I have loved being your daughter. You were always so kind and amazing to me. You deserved the world. I wish you got to experience it more. I truly hope that we meet again someday, and that you are enjoying your peace in heaven. I am going to continue making you proud. Our time was so short together but I will always treasure it. I love you so so much Mama.
