Kristina Marie Ortiz, 37, died on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in South Bend due to a tragic act of violence. She was born February 12, 1988, in South Bend to Gregory and Maria (Ortiz) Bloch.
Maria survives along with her son, Zaevion Ortiz, siblings Tatyana, Gregory, Jr., and Maria E. Bloch. Kristina also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, Gregory III, Maricella, Natasha, Jabez, Santana, Isabel, and Marley Bloch, and four special aunts, Carla Suggs, Rosario Cervantes, and Angelica Arriaga, and Amelia Tamez, and many other extended family.
Kristina discovered true joy in dedicating her life to helping others, especially those who needed extra care and support. With a compassionate spirit and an instinctive ability to nurture, she was a natural caregiver. Her selflessness and kindness touched everyone she met. Her outgoing personality made it easy for her to form lasting friendships wherever she went. Kristina also had a deep love for animals, often opening her home and heart to animals in need of shelter and affection. In her quiet moments, she found peace in creating arts and crafts and immersing herself in music that matched her mood.
A time to visit and share in remembering Kristina is scheduled for Thursday, June 12, from 4 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Cruz Family Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
