Kurt Allen Pochert, 76, was born on February 24, 1946 in Bad Axe Michigan to Lawrence and Mina Belle (Etzel) Pochert. He attended Port Hope schools through his junior year and graduated from Harbor Beach in 1964.
Kurt enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam era and served for 6 years. During this time he served as a data systems technician aboard the USS Wainwright. Kurt and Sue (Mercier) married in 1971 and moved to Hartland MI. Together they welcomed son Jason in 1974 and daughter Gretchen in 1977. They attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in Hartland MI.
Kurt worked as an Electronics Technician at the General Motors Proving Ground in Milford, MI for 29 years, where he proudly worked on GM's original electric vehicle, the Saturn EV1. During this time he earned his associates degree from Lawrence Technological University. Kurt continued to tinker with electronics throughout his retirement.
Kurt is survived by his wife Sue Pochert of Hartland, his son and daughter in law, Jason and Alyona Pochert of Laveen Arizona, his daughter and son in law, Gretchen and Jason Ferris of Plainwell Michigan, his grandchildren, Nathan and Owen Ferris, and Daniel and Elizabeth Pochert, brother and brother in law Terry Pochert and Joe Connolly of Chandler Arizona, and sister and brother in law, Cindy and Paul Quitmeyer of Fort Myers Florida.
A military memorial service will be held at a future date at Fort Custer.
