Terry L. Pochert

Terry Lynn Pochert, nee Tyl passed away on January 30th, 2025, at the age of 72. Terry was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Terry was the beloved wife of the late Wayne Pochert. Terry was a loving mother to her four daughters: Dana (Jason) Boersma, Stacy (Matt) Pochert-Rohr, Dawn (Baltazar) Hunley, and Danielle (Kevin) Brown. Her daughters lovingly referred to her as their "Mama Bear," for the fierce love and protection she always gave them. She was also a very proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Ashley, James, Sophia, Chase, JJ, Kylie, Grayson, Will, Declan, Ezmae, and Noelle.
Terry is survived by her sister Vickie (John) Albrecht, and her brothers Brad (Chris) Tyl and Eric Tyl. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kim Tyl. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her dearly.
As a teacher, Terry was passionate about helping children learn and grow. After retirement, Terry moved to a house by the lake, where she enjoyed feeding the deer that visited her property, and she spent much of her time fishing and camping with her family.
Terry had a passion for coloring, a hobby she shared with her grandchildren. She also made it a priority to attend her grandchildren's events, whether it was a soccer game, dance recital, baseball game, basketball game, or cross-country meet-she loved being there to cheer them on.
One of Terry's most beloved traditions was her love for Christmas. She kept her Christmas tree up year-round, decorating it for different holidays, bringing a touch of festive cheer to her home no matter the season.
A celebration of Terry's life will be held on February 17th, 2025 from 10:00-12:00 at Modell Funeral Home in Darien, with a short graveside service at Clarendon Hills Cemetery immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Terry's honor.
