ALEXANDRIA, IN – Kurtis "Kurt" Allen Rose of Elwood passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, November 23, 2025. The beloved husband, father, and son, was 40 years old.
Born to Albert Rose, Jr., and Robin Daugherty, Kurt began his journey on February 28, 1985. After attending Highland High School, he enlisted in the United States National Guard, and later transferred to active duty with the United States Army. Kurt served honorably for 11 years, which included tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he held several positions before embarking on a career as a Heavy Machine Operator through the IUOE Local #103. On July 31, 2022, Kurt married Kindra Riggs.
Defined by his huge heart and fun-loving spirit, Kurt possessed a unique light that touched all who knew him. He was always ready and willing to jump in with a helping hand, or to join in on the next adventure. Those adventures often involved the great outdoors, either hunting or playing paintball; Kurt liked to travel as well, and he especially enjoyed his time in Korea.
At home, he was a fan of all things science fiction and fantasy, and he had a special place in his heart for scary movies. A life-long gamer, Kurt cut his teeth on the original Pong game on his Atari, and his fondness for video games continued through his entire life. Another passion was music - his collection of CDs was extensive - and he was also fascinated by stories: he was an avid reader, but was particularly known for his own ability to "spin a yarn."
By far, what distinguished Kurt the most was his care for others. In spite of life's difficulties, his deep affection for his loved ones always shone through, and they will forever treasure the special memories and moments he leaves behind.
Survivors include:
Wife - Kindra Rose
Daughters (4) - Molly Daugherty, Isabelle Daugherty, Elizabeth Rose, and Terri Rose
