Preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Wanda Phillips, Robert and Ethelyn MacLeod; and mother-in-law, Eve Johanson.
Kyle is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Dawn (Johanson) Phillips; son, Connor Allen Phillips; his parents, Robert and Lynn Phillips; brother, Todd Michael (Melissa) Phillips; nephew, Michael Phillips; niece, Madison Phillips; father-in-law, Dean Eric Johanson; brother-in-law, Dean Martin (Annette) Johanson; sister-in-law, Debra Ann (Brendan) Moran; niece, Deanna Johanson; and many extended family, coworkers and friends.
Kyle graduated from Portage High School, class of 1989. He was a proud Steelworker and was actively employed at Cleveland Cliffs. Kyle was a man of great wit and had a wonderful sense of humor. He always enjoyed having exotic pets including sugar gliders, tree frogs and snakes, and some regular cats too. Kyle had great musical talent and played the trumpet, flugelhorn, and piccolo trumpet.

A celebration of Kyle's life will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Indiana 46304. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.ee-fh.com.

Its a story his brother told me many years ago.
Apparently Kyle's car ran out of gas in Gary one night, so he walked to a gas station and got a can of gas to fill it up enough to get home. A guy stopped him on the way back to his car to ask him for money, and Kyle responded, all I have is a can of gas and a lighter. The dude took off running!
