Mr. Kyu Sung Rhee passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2024 at the age of 86 in Johns Creek, GA.
He was born in South Korea on November 16, 1938 to Jang Young Rhee and Il Soon Im. He graduated from Keimyung Christian College (now Keimyung University), and soon thereafter began his career in teaching in secondary education. In 1973, he and his wife with their two small children emigrated to the United States. They began their new life in Franklin, GA, where he worked various jobs to support his family while completing coursework at West Georgia College for the state Teacher's Certificate. Five years later, he successfully attained a teaching position in the Atlanta Public Schools System as an ESL teacher.
For many years, he had been an active member and elder of the Korean Community Presbyterian Church, where he attended and served faithfully until his death. Throughout his life, he loved God and shared the gospel with others. He filled his time with his love of learning, teaching Bible study, writing, gardening, enjoying nature, spending time with friends and family, as well as occasionally traveling, fishing and golfing.
Kyu Sung Rhee was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Choon Ja Rhee, two daughters, Sarah Yoon and Mary Park, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The service for Kyu Sung Rhee will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 10:00 am for visitation, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, at the Crowell Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory - Peachtree Corners Chapel (5051 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Peachtree Corners, GA).
