Lloyd Allen Lund (79) passed away unexpectedly in Kingston, NY on June 12, 2024. Allen was born on June 21, 1944 in Kingston, NY to Lloyd W. and Dorothy (Houst) Lund. He graduated from Onteora High School in 1962 and was a lifelong resident of the area. Allen courageously served in the US Army from 1967-1969 as helicopter mechanic and flight simulator instructor, taking him to Vietnam and Germany. After returning, Allen provided blasting, excavation services to Woodstock/Kingston area; developed residential neighborhoods in Zena and Sawkill, NY; and served as highway superintendent for Town of Kingston. Allen cofounded the Sawkill Ski Family Center, waterslide, go-kart track and miniature golf course in Sawkill NY, which has brought much recreational opportunity and joy to the surrounding community. He spent many cold winter nights making the best snow in order for others to have fun at the “Ski Hill”. Our Dad passed on the joy of skiing and fishing to his grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He enjoyed sailing with the Kingston Sailing Club, fishing, skiing, flying, a good authentic German meal and joking around with family and friends. Allen will be remembered for his sense of humor, contagious laugh, ingenuity, kindness and generosity.

Allen is survived by his former wife, Patty Lund, four adult children: Kimberly Lund Pawlowski (John), Ryan Lund (Kristen), David Lund (Tricia), and Deborah Talmage (Jason); brothers Glenn (Judy) Lund and Niles Lund; 10 beloved grandchildren: Hannah Pawlowski, Jacob Pawlowski , Benjamin Lund, Christopher Lund, Joseph Lund, Gavin Lund, Justin Lund, Alexia Lund, Joshua Talmage, and Addilyn Talmage, cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and his loyal golden retriever, Buddy. Allen loved his dog and other animals. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local animal shelter for dogs or a veterans’ organization of your choice. Per Allen’s wishes, there will be no formal services.
