Lacye Ann Schovajsa, lovingly known as "Yay-yay”, finally joined her Gran in heaven on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 46. She was born January 18th, 1979, in Lubbock, to Steve and Kim Payne. Lacye re-married Joe Schovajsa January 13, 2013 and began fulfilling her lifelong dream of having a family.
Lacye was as independent as she was kind, wearing her heart on her sleeve—a spirit defined by her innate generosity, creativity, and passion for people. Her warmth spilled over into her role as an incredibly doting mother.
She is survived by husband, Joe Schovajsa; children, Mikaylie Payne, Zane Schovajsa, Zeran Schovajsa, Maklyn Schovajsa, Cody Schovajsa, and Halie Hodges; parents, Steve and Kim Payne; siblings, Lindsay Stallings and husband Tad, Michael Payne, Robbie Hill and wife Devin, and Mac McGuire and wife Sita.
Lacye was preceded in death by one son, Silas Mason Schovajsa in 2016.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, in Lubbock. Her family asks that you wear something green, as she would’ve had nothing less.
