Laird Kenneth McGaughey, age 97, of Medina, NY, went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2025, at Medina Memorial Hospital, Medina, New York.

Laird (aka Larry) was born on March 24, 1928 in Dayton, Pennsylvania. He was the son of George Samuel McGaughey and Hazel Margaret Kelly McGaughey. He worked in the coal mines alongside his father and brother. He and his family moved to Medina, NY, at age nineteen, and later, he was employed as a Tool & Die Maker for Phinney Tool & Die of Medina, NY.

He married the love of his life Joanne Marie Schrader on April 28, 1951. Larry was a strong and devoted father. He and his wife, Joanne, raised two children.

Larry is survived by his wife, Joanne, their two children: Derrick Laird McGaughey and Charmayne Renee McGaughey Bloom (Robert William Bloom Jr.), granddaughter Chelsey Marie Bloom Beutel (Christopher John Beutel) and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his two siblings: James Allen McGaughey and Edna Pauline McGaughey Hydock, as well as his parents.

Larry's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 11 AM- 1 PM at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in the Millville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Laird's name to the American Cancer Society and to New Life Alliance Church 4140 Shelby Basin Rd. Medina, NY 14103.
