Lana B. Chapman, 81, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on September 4, 2024. Born in Mt. Vernon, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine Thela and predeceased by her brother, Kenneth. She and her late husband, Harold, whom she met in NY, were married in 1962 and had three children. They loved their home in Virginia Beach where they moved in 1975. Lana loved gardening, fishing and watching the amazing wildlife. They were married for 58 years before Hal's passing in 2019. They were fortunate to be able to travel to many places, including Hawaii, Aruba, Mexico, Las Vegas, Israel, and Germany. One of the most memorable was their pilgrimage to Jerusalem where they renewed their wedding vows.
She lovingly and faithfully served the elderly at Beth Sholom Nursing Home as an LPN until retiring after 39 years. She was an active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, serving in several ministries over the years.
She is survived by her children, Paul (TiffanyJill), Alyson Donoghue (Michael), and Matthew (Gabi); her grandchildren, Ross Chapman (Ampy), Noelle Dennard (Ben), Madison Poffenberger (Tyler), Ryan Donoghue, Michael Chapman (Lori), Steven Chapman, Neal Donoghue, Riley Chapman, Julicia Chapman, Sam Chapman, and Jasmine Chapman; her great-grandchildren, Daniel and Chloe Dennard.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in Norfolk, VA, on Friday, September 20, from 7-8:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Saturday, September 21, at 11 a.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at: www.hollomon-brown.com
