Mrs. Laree Smith Harris, 97, of Phenix City, AL entered into her heavenly home on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am EST Friday, March 14, 2025 at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Robb Goodman officiating.

Laree, known as “Reesie” to her family and friends was born June 17, 1927 in Phenix City, AL. She graduated from Central High School in 1945, where she was a cheerleader and met a football player, Pete Harris, who would become her husband of 70 years, and the father of her two children, Dan and Cindy. As she and Pete started their life together, they were founding members of Summerville Baptist Church, where in 2016 she had the privilege of burning the mortgage note for the church. Laree had a strong faith and lived her life with kindness, love and caring. God blessed us all with her inspiration and loving energy.

She was the last one in her family to go be with God, since she was proceeded in eternal life by her husband, Pete; her four brothers, Jack Smith, Harold Smith, Joel Smith and Remanyi Parker and her beloved mother, Dannie B. Oswalt Smith Parker; several nieces and nephews and six adorable fur grandbabies.

She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Harris; a son, John Daniel Harris (Marie); grandchildren, Trevor Harris (Yan), Adam Harris (Nastya) and Lauren Harris (Niko); several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as, numerous other extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Summerville Baptist Church, 3500 Summerville Road, Phenix City, AL 36867.
