LaRee Morin

LaRee Evans Morin passed away peacefully at home in Salt Lake City on December 7th, 2024 at the age of 85.
LaRee was born in the Milford hospital on June 18, 1939 to Thomas Arshal Evans and Lela Davis of Minersville. LaRee was the 4th child of 9 siblings: Clyde Evans(deceased), Wayne Evans(deceased), Merlene Evans Smith Lowell (deceased), Geneil Roberts, Elaine Limb, Betty Sue (deceased), Lois Crystal, Rama Strong.
LaRee grew up in Minersville, attended and graduated from Beaver High School in 1957. Following High School worked at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon before moving to Salt Lake City where she lived in the Beehive House and worked for Standard Optical. There she met Alfred J. Morin of Michigan. They were married in 1960. Alfred's work took them to Pheonix, AZ and back to Salt Lake City and finally to Las Vegas, NV in 1975.
In 1980 they opened their own optical store called Alan's Opticians. The business thrived and they were able to enjoy their favorite activities of golf, skiing, fishing, hunting and boating on Lake Mead.
Al and LaRee bought property in Beaver where they built a log home. While living in Las Vegas, they made weekend trips to enjoy the country life. They retired to this beloved property in 1989 where LaRee enjoyed gardening, crafting, canning and spending time with her extended family. LaRee delighted many with her gourmet candy and canned goods and no one ever left her home without treat or jar of something delicious! LaRee was vivacious and a hard worker with many talents.
After Alfred passed away, LaRee moved to SLC in 2015 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She lived in a retirement community where she enjoyed city life and made new friends.
LaRee is survived by her children: Alfred J. Morin Jr (A.J.), Thomas Morin, Ashley Swanson (Nathan) and 4 grandchildren: Hanah, Blake, Lauryn and Aubrey. She is proceeded in death by her husband Alfred Morin, parents Arshal and Lela Evans, brothers Clyde, Wayne, sisters Merlene and Betty Sue.
Funeral services will be at Beaver Southern Utah Mortuary 195 N 200 W on Thursday December 12, 2024. There will be a visitation and viewing from 10:00 – 11:00 am with a memorial service following at 11:00 am. A brief graveside service will be held at the Beaver Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
