It is with great sadness that we announce Larry White Benedini, 82 years old of Barre Town passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. He was born March 26, 1942 in Montpelier, the son of Ethel and Peter Benedini, Sr. He lived a wonderful life, and he had great satisfaction in his accomplishments. He was very much loved by his family and friends.
He graduated from Montpelier High School and then graduated Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH. Larry is also alumni of Vermont Technical College and received an Associate of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Larry is a veteran of the Vermont Air National Guard. He later married Judith Hudson in East Montpelier on August 26, 1967. In addition, Larry was the proud owner of the family business, Champlain Well Drilling and Benedini's Water Pump Company until his retirement.
While raising his children, Larry and his wife Judy Benedini spent summers at Joe's Pond raising their children at the family camp on West Shore Road. They enjoyed many great memories of boating, sailing, waterskiing, knee boarding, and rides in the aluminum boat up in the channel. They frequently visited with neighbors at the family camp and enjoyed having bonfires, homemade donuts, and great conversations. During the winter months, he enjoyed snowmobiling with his wife Judy, brother-in-law, Gary Hudson, and his children Kimberly Benedini, Scott Benedini, and Betty Jo Benedini. In addition, Larry enjoyed hunting with his son Scott along with his brother in laws Gary Hudson, Tim Hudson, and Eddie Hudson.
One of Larry's favorite pastimes was playing golf at the Northfield Country Club. On July 13, 1997, Larry had a golf tournament at Northfield Country Club whereby he made a hole-in-one on hole 12. As a result, he won a brand-new 1997 Chevy S10 pickup truck. He was very proud to have received this hole-in-one at this golf tournament.
During recent years, Larry could be found sailing his yacht "Cool Change" on Lake Champlain with his significant other, Fran Burstein. He was a member of the Lake Champlain Yacht Club and had many sailing friends. Larry and Fran were snowbirds and enjoyed their time spent in Punta Gorda, Fl. While in Florida, Larry enjoyed being active, playing golf and pickleball.
Survivors include his daughter, Kimberly Ann Benedini of Groton, Vermont, a son, Larry Scott Benedini of Dallas, Texas and daughter, Betty Jo Benedini of Pinson, Alabama, brother Thomas Benedini of Barre Town, and sister Barbara Benedini of Fort Collins, Colorado along with many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his significant other, Fran Burstein
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Judith C. Benedini, mother Ethel Benedini, Father Peter Benedini, Sr., and brother Peter Benedini Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held at Guare & Sons Funeral Home at 30 School Street in
Montpelier, VT on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 11 am. A Committal service will be at Hope Cemetery in Barre immedicately following the funeral.
