Larry Charles Dyess

November 18, 1946 - July 13, 2025

In loving memory of Larry Charles Dyess. Larry, age 78 of Ball, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Born on November 18, 1946, in Chalmette, La., Larry was the son of William Dyess and Jeanette Dyess (n'ee Zigler). Larry was a patriotic American Vietnam-era veteran who served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserves as an airplane and aerospace mechanic. The knowledge and skills he learned during his time in service would ultimately lead him to a long career in the airline industry before retiring and returning to Louisiana with his beloved wife, Viola Dyess, a place he would call home for the remainder of his life.

Larry was a man who loved the simple joys of life. A proud American, he loved to read about American History and was particularly fond of watching war movies and documentaries that celebrated our nation's heroes and their sacrifices for our country.

Larry also found peace and excitement in Nature. He loved to fish, spend time outdoors with his wife and their animals and had an affinity for firearms; passions fit for the longtime native of the Sportsman's Paradise. Larry was also and avid Scrabble player and cherished the time spent playing with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Jeanette Dyess, and his wife, Viola Dyess.

Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and family through his children: Larry Dyess, Jr., Rodney Dyess, Al Dyess, Jennifer Dorsey, John Norton, and Kathleen Hernandez.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.

Arrangements have placed in the care of Fall Creek Funeral Home, 1800 Military Hwy., Pineville, Robbie Dauzat, Director.
