Larry D. Ericson, 77, of Kewanee, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024, at his home. Larry was born October 6, 1946, in Galesburg, the son of Lawrence L. and Dorothy B. (Moline) Ericson. Larry graduated from Galva High School with the class of 1964. He attended Emporia State University, graduating in 1973. He wrestled, played football, and was a track star in college. Larry married Nancy Pont on October 23, 1981, in Cambridge; she survives.
Larry is also survived by three children, Ryan (Michelle) Ericson, Normal, Ellis (Trishia) Ericson, Kewanee, Erin (Matt) Dunn, Kewanee; grandchildren, Owen Ericson, Evan Ericson, Logan Ericson, Hope (Billy, Jr.) Doss, Hannah Ericson, Jaxson Dunn, Lincoln Dunn, Lachlan Dunn, Griffin Dunn; and his siblings, Sue Bubnick, Roger Ericson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Rick Ericson; and a brother-in-law, Tom Bubnick.
Larry worked for Dixline Corporation, Caterpillar, and Good's Furniture. He worked as a brick mason, he helped build city hall, the police station, and the Wethersfield weight room. He liked college and high school sports: football, basketball, baseball, hockey, but he especially loved wrestling. Larry enjoyed lifting weights and the punching bag. He also enjoyed playing racquetball. He also loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. There will be a private burial at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established. Please leave an online condolence for Larry's family at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com.
