Larry Scott Fleischman, 73, of Beaverton, sadly passed away in his home on May 17th, 2024.
He was born June 1st, 1950 in Vancouver, Washington to Harold and Verna Fleischman. He grew up in North Portland and graduated from Benson High School in 1968 where he participated in football and basketball.
After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy where he worked on submarines including the USS Lewis and Clark, USS Seawolf, and USS Thomas Edison. During part of his enlistment he lived in Vallejo, California where he bought his first house, and then in Hawaii. He was honorably discharged after almost 9 years of service.
After leaving the Navy he returned to Portland where he enrolled at Portland State University and attended for two years. In 1979 he started working at Tektronix in Beaverton where he met his wife, Bonnie. Bonnie and Larry were married June, 18th 1983, welcomed there first child, Lindsay, in 1985, and their son, Daniel, in 1987,
He spent most of his time fully committed to being a devoted husband and father. Some of his fondest memories were evenings and weekends at the baseball and softball fields, trips to he beach, and camping. After his kids were grown he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife on the back.
After a long successful career as a Test and Quality Assurance Engineer, he fully retired in December of 2016. After retirement he was able to spend his days watching Perry Mason, working in the yard, riding his Harley, and eventually with his grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Verna. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, children Lindsay (Joshua) and Daniel (Lauren), and his grandchildren Myles, Evelyn, and Theo.
Services will be held and Springer and Son on Friday, May 24th at 1pm with military honors.
