Larry J. Hash, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, in Bloomington, Indiana, where he was also born on April 16, 1952.
Larry pursued an Associate's Degree from Ivy Tech while embarking on a career that would span 40 plus years at General Electric. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his dedication to his country, as he proudly served in the United States Navy. Larry's work ethic and service-minded spirit were cornerstones of his character, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and fellow veterans.
At home, Larry was the heart of his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra "Sandy" Hash, with whom he was married 51 years and shared countless cherished moments. Together, they raised three children: April Lovett (Cliff), Amy Hash, and Joshua Hash, who will carry forward the values and lessons their father instilled in them. Larry's brother, Robert "Bobby" Hash (Rita), will remember him for all the antics they experienced together in their youth. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Panzy (Polley) Hash.
Larry's role as "Papaw" to his grandchildren, Madison, Cooper, Hunter, Wyatt, and Rayah, was one of his greatest joys. He cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was sharing stories, or simply being present in their lives.
A man of many interests, Larry found pleasure in NASCAR racing, enjoyed trips to French Lick, and relished the time spent attending his grandchildren's activities. Larry's love for being a father and a papaw shone through in every action, from playing catch to imparting life lessons. His commitment to his family was unwavering, and he was known as a hard worker and wonderful provider.
A funeral service will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Wednesday, February 19, beginning at 1:00 pm with military honors provided by the Monroe County Veterans Honor Guard, with Greg Norman officiating the service. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until time of service.
