Lawrence Francis Hofferber, affectionately known as "OGR," passed away on March 1, 2025, at the Southern AZ VA Hospital in Tucson. Born on December 18, 1950, in Lebanon, Oregon, Larry led a life marked by resilience, dedication, and a profound commitment to his country and community.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Larry served with honor during the Vietnam War, notably at Hamburger Hill, where he earned the esteemed Bronze Star for his bravery and service. He carried the values he learned in the military throughout his life, demonstrating unwavering loyalty and camaraderie with those around him.
In addition to his military service, Larry was a devoted member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Casa Grande, proudly holding a lifetime membership. He also found joy and connection with fellow veterans as a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA), where he shared his passion for riding and camaraderie with like-minded individuals.
Larry was also known for his impressive accomplishments in the world of motorsports. A seven-time state champion in Oregon with the Sports Car Club of America, he showcased both skill and determination, leaving a lasting impact on the community of motorsport enthusiasts.
He is survived by his son, Aaron Hofferber, and his daughter, Chavon Nickelson.
Larry will be remembered as a remarkable individual who led a life filled with purpose, adventure, and profound love for his fellow veterans. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
